I am computer illiterate, so I don't know exactly how to ask this. I don't think he would mind if I copied/pasted directly from an email from him. So here goes :
As I e-mailed Linds, I did ask IT if there was
any company support for merging over toward Firefox. I've been on JL on
Firefox @ home and had no problems. Unfortunately, the company is solidly
into IE at this point and unwilling to support the swap. Even as an option.
IE is becoming shaky as I get into the "New York Times" site particularly
-- and I do that from a work standpoint almost daily. So I positioned my
question from that standpoint: Since FF is more reliable when it comes to
the NYT (haven't had a single issue) and IE is getting unreliable when it
comes to the NYT (almost daily hangups), and I NEED the NYT for work
purposes, can we go to FF?
Answer: No.
Even from home. When I ran JL thru IE, I got a Trojan Horse. I was able to
rout it out immediately w/a scan, but still. I cannot believe people are
accessing JL thru IE and having not a single issue. Maybe they're just not
aware????
So. Here I sit. I'm really scared to try JL using IE @ work because of the
damned viruses. I already created some panic here last week. I don't want
to get on IT's radar screen again by risking it. If the admins can give some
solid assurances that JL thru IE represents NO (or very little) virus
threat, I'd chance it.

I love having a mac... both at home and work.
I hope Dan is able to come back soon. His work is retarded for insisting on using the world's worst web browser.

I have a Mac too so no issues for me. I miss Dan!

I logged onto JL from home (which I rarely do) and I have IE. I didn't get a notice about a virus or anything like that but yesterday morning my home computer is infected with a virus and I can't do a thing with it. I have no clue if it's from JL or something else but I have never had a virus before. Now I have to take my computer to some computer store and have it fixed!! Grrrr.
So far at work it's been ok...but I am getting nervous.

I does seem strange that so many members are having issues !

It's really unacceptable.
I hope something is done quickly. Considering people donate to keep it running. You shouldn't pay to get viruses.
Amy and Tucker-
I got a couple of nasty trojans from JL last night. I run Firefox and have AVG 9 Pro. It took me most of the night to get rid of them. It's coming through a java script.

Can someone please explain to me what this trojan horse is, of which you speak?![]()
