Hello all, I found this site after doing a search on Labs.
And to be perfectly honest with you, I'm not to happy I found it.
I was looking to see what the life span is on Choc.Labs.
Then I see he's considered a Senior.
I was none to happy to see 12-13 years old would be the normal lifespan
I don't want to except that.
He's not a work dog, show dog, hunting dog, He's just my dog.
He's a good dog, Actually a GREAT dog. And has a great life.
Everybody Loves my dog because he's such a great dog.
He's not allowed on the bed or coutch, but
Eats only dry dog food and when ever we have Pizza you HAVE to give him the crust, lol
The worst time I had with him was when he got Lyme's and RockyMT spotted fever at the same time. He was in such pain I was going to shoot him to stop the pain.
It was horrible
My Dog is in very good shape,
I stopped taking him to the beach a year ago because he would run, run, run.then one day when we got home he was wining, not a lot but I could tell he was hurting so I took him to the vet.
He's all right, Vet said he was getting old, LOL
I felt bad for him but it was funny and I teased him, called him old-timer and all that.
As I write this he's napping at my feet, God I love this dog.
He's not in pain, his eyesite is good ,he eats and drinks fine.He is def so I have to yell for him to here me.
I love this dog,he's 12 and his name is DOG
DOG sounds like a great dog
My Chocolate lived until over 15 1/2
another member on the boards was almost 17
with lots of love and care, like it sounds like DOG gets, they sure can have a good long life
I started giving my boys some Rimadyl or Metacam, and that really helped out with arthritis, etc...
All I can say is spend every possible second with your dog, because when they're gone, there is nothing worse in the world.
<br />Ellis (brown) & Yukon (yellow) - Sadly, we helped Ellis "move along" on Feb 22, 2007 at age 15 1/2 - and Yukon died suddenly on Feb 1st, 2006 - 4 days before his 11th birthday. We are devestated.
Old dogs are a true treasure to have. Enjoy every minute of his senior years.![]()
Seniors are just the best.![]()
Looking forward to see pictures of DOG.

I'm 46 and never had any kids,so my Dog is my boy ;D
I went to Disney 10 years ago and had a neighbor watch after him.
I felt so guilty for leaving him I never did another vacation without him.
If he doesn't go,we don't go.
After reading some of the senior post ,I thought he was going to drop dead on me.
Thanks everyone ,I feel better now
My Reilly lived to be over 15 (see below photo -- age 14) -- the last year he was pretty arthritic, the day he passed on his mind was fine but his body gave out.
I have a 12 3/4 year old Lab, Nessie here at my feet -- she is doing pretty well, some arthritis but her mom lived past age 14 so I have hopes she will as well.
Enjoy your special boy. I have Labs of other ages but the seniors bring their own kind of joy to our lives.
