I don't consider 8 or 9 old at all! I have an almost 10 year old Lab who is competing in Rally.
I have had Labs competing in obedience at age 13! Activity helps keep them (and us) young!

I have to say that my lab is going to be 12 years old in April and my other Lab keeps him young, Tundra keeps him going, even if Aries wants to sleep and not be bothered, Tundra wont let him.
