My 11 year old lab, Bailey, has been experiencing significant issues with her hind quarters. Probable CCL tear in R stifle/knee and some degree of dysplasi/arthritis in her L hip. All this results in a left back leg hitch that sometimes results in the leg buckling underneath her. She has also stopped being able to go upstairs, jump up on the couch, etc. Because of her decreased activity level and favoring the L hind leg she has experienced some muscle atrophy (loss of strength) in that L rear leg which only makes things worse. She's on a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (Metacam) and pain med (Tramadol) when needed. We had been giving her oral Dasquin too, but we have that on hold while we try the twice a week injections of Adequan for a month. Just wondering if anyone has had experience with Adequan and if it seemed to help? I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks!
Does she cough or hack too? Many times dogs that have a light case of larengeal paralysis, they also get the rear leg wasting.
Nope, no coughing or hacking. That's one thing that she doesn't have. We are on the fourth week of the Adequan injections (twice a week) and then they are supposed to move to maintenance. Not sure I've seen a difference. Doesn't seem as if anyone on this forum has much experience with the Adequan either.
