Run free, Babe. Run Free.
For Babe's family, only sympathy to extend to you in your time of sorrow. You did the best anyone could for her.

Thanks again. Your posts made me think of a nice memory of Babe's first time at the "dog beach" at a local bay. She was fully grown but still a puppy between the ears. At first she was afraid of the waves coming in. Then we saw a group of dogs out beyond the waves swimming. We looked down at Babe but she had disappeared. When we next looked out at the swimming dogs, Babe was in the midst of them. I like to think she's doing that now.
just seeing this now and so very sorry for your loss.
cancer sure sucks!
Godspeed, Babe. You were loved.
Treasure those wonderful memories. The sad ones of the last days so easily take over.
Thank you for sharing this story. I can picture her happy without a care int he world having fun.
Thank you, TVGSAM. One of the hardest things was not knowing how long we would have her. But she had started panting all the time and seemed to be unable to get comfortable. She had also started to refuse treats. I didn't want to see what I was seeing but I knew she was suffering.
Looking back, I wish I had spent more time with her after she was put to sleep and the vet told us she was gone. We spent about 10 minutes but I think we were both in shock. I wish we had stayed another 10 minutes or so. For 12 years she was always at hand. Now I wish I could pet her again and see her tail wagging.
Thanks bett, tismom, and kassabella. I hope Babe is happy and free somewhere now. She left behind a "sister," Cooper, who is a 5 y/o yellow lab who seems confused that she is now allowed to occupy "Babe's spot" on the sofa
