Sophie had her spay surgery yesterday. She came home lethargic and listless. I sat up with her till 4am and finally fell asleep. At that time she still moved around very little. By 6:30 she ran and jumped in my bed with me, with lots of kisses for mama! Now, today....she is her old self. Romps through the house, and jumps on the couch, chair or bed by herself. Post op instructions say no running or jumping. Yeah, right! We had to lock the dog door, she went out by herself like usual. So any ideas how in the world I am supposed to keep my very active puppy sedate for a week????

Good luck with that Pam
I just went through this with my Ruby.
Best you can do is on leash as much as possible, no fetch, etc. and no play dates or dog park.
Did she come home with a cone? Rudy didn't, she licked once and I told her to "leave it alone", that was it..
Cheers, Don
Crate her.
She really shouldn't be jumping on furniture or up and down stairs.
If she won't stay calm, put her in her crate.
It's safer for her.
Yes, you'll feel bad, but you'll feel worse if you continue to let her behave like this and rip that incision open.
Moka broke her leg when she was 4 months old and had 2 surgeries to repair it. She need to be kept quiet and off her leg for 4 months. 24/7.
I kept her crated for 4 LONG months.
I felt a little bad, but not bad enough to risk her health or safety.
wow! 4 months! And here I have been whining about a week to 10 days!![]()

definitely take it easy - because if you don't it will just end up being LONGER than 10 days and more expensive. Do whatever you need to to keep her calm. Get bones, stuff kongs, special toys, you name it. crate her, leash her, whatever it takes. definitely no jumping on the couch for at least 7 days.
even walks - no more than 10-15 minutes. on leash.
