what to do to keep him from licking

a week ago Bear had to have his nail removed because it was split. He came home from the vet and it looked fine..now he keeps licking it and it looks terrible! He hops around and wont even put it down. Its his back right and I dont know what to do to keep him from licking it so it can get well. Everything I put on it he pulls of. I even put on his doggie boot but that seemed to hold moisture in..any suggestion of what to do to keep him from licking it?? HELP..I feel so sorry for him

That is what I need..do I get it at the vet or store?..my sheltie had one but he came home with it from the vet and I dont remember seeing any at the pet store

I am pretty sure Petco has them (at least around here they do). Otherwise your vet should be able to provide you with one

The only thing is a cone, and make sure he can't get it off. Miles got his off on Monday and licked his surgery and now he has an infection. :-( I haven't left him unsupervised since.
