    Default Garlic Cheese Grits

    4 cups boiling water
    1 teas. salt
    1 c. instant grits
    1 stick butter or margarine
1 cup grated cheddar (or one roll garlic cheese)
    1 clove garlic minced
    2 eggs
    milk
Cook grits in salted water for 3 minutes or until thick. Remove from heat and stir in butter, cheese and garlic. Put eggs in measuring cup and add milk to 1 cup line. Beat well and add to grits.
Bake in 2 quart dish at 300 for one hour.
(I've also baked this at 375 for 30 minutes)

I don't particularly care for grits, but this recipe almost makes me want to try them again. It sounds tasty!

Just have to ask, what exactly are grits?

    One tuckered pooch!

Ah grits. A Southern experience. They are actually broken grains of corn.
They have the consistency of cream of wheat when cooked.

Sort of like hominy? Had that when I was younger and wasn't a big fan, its a texture thing for me- but your recipe sounds good- just might have to try it again.

No grits aren't like hominy. More of a cereal type thing. As I said, kind of like cream of wheat or cream of rice.

Hmm I'm going to have google this to get a visual! I'm sure they sell it here somewhere, I'll have to check it out.
