White Winter Chili

White Winter Chili
1 tbsp. vegetable oil
1 lb. chicken breast, chopped
1 medium onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, chopped
2 (15-oz.) cans Great Northern Beans, drained
1 (12-oz.) bottle Alaskan Winter Ale
2 (4-oz.) cans chopped green chilies
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cumin
1/2 tsp. white pepper
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1 c. sour cream
1/2 c. whipping cream
Heat oil in a heavy saucepan over medium-high heat; add chicken, onion and garlic. Sauté until chicken is cooked and onions are transparent. Add beans, Alaskan Winter Ale, chilies, salt, cumin, white pepper and cayenne pepper. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat and simmer covered for 40 minutes. Add sour cream and whipping cream and heat through. Serve with an ice-cold Alaskan Winter Ale and hearty bread.

Where are you getting Alaskan Winter Ale? We mail order our Alaskan Amber from some place out west.

I made this on Monday, New years Day! It is WONDERFUL! We didn't have the Alaskan Ale so I used chicken broth lololol. Next time I will plan ahead better & get Alaskan Ale. I also ADDED a can of diced tomatoes with chopped chilies. This will be on the menue again soon, with the Ale.

Ours was a bit thicker like a stew. UMMMMMMMMM ;D

What other kinds of beer would work in place of the Alaskan Winter Ale? I don't have the energy to traipse all over town looking for it.

When I was at the store this week, I went down the alchol isle. Samuel Adams has a line of seasonal beer out now that INCLUDES Winter Lager : "flavorful spices such as Cinnamon, Orange Zest, And Fresh Ginger" This was how they described the Alaskan Ale's when I looked it up. I haven't opened one yet but thought I would mention it. I would think it would be available just about everywhere.
