I've never been on this forum before but was looking for someplace to put a small memorial for my 11 year old Chocolate lab Elliott. We had to put him down on Saturday. He had been getting fluid in his lungs and couldn't breathe anymore despite Antibiotics.
He wouldn't eat on Saturday morning and was struggling to breathe.
I took him to the Pet ER and the only other option was to put him in an oxygen crate until Monday and see what could be done then.
We didn't want to subject him to that and made the most excruciating decision I've ever made.
My kids, age 6 and 7 along with my wife and 10 year old black lab Darla were all in the room with him. My face was the last thing he saw.
We got him when he was 7 weeks old, he was the first pet I ever had. He made an impact on everyone who met him.
Everyone I see now asks where Elliott is. They're so used to seeing me with 2 on their walk.
Goodbye big bear! We'll miss you!
I am so very sorry for your family's loss of Elliott.
Godspeed Dear Elliott. :'( Your memory will live forever in the hearts of your family. :'(

I didn't know how to post pictures yesterday. Here is one of Elliott (aka bear) at a lake a few years ago.
I miss the big lug!
