Hello
The last time I posted was approximately 2 years ago. My husband and I rescued 2 black labs, brother and sister. They were 1 1/2 yrs old then. Diesel and Diamond came along way in those 2 years. On Thursday night, we let them out before bedtime. We live in the country but we do have a fenced in back yard for them to play. Diesel somehow was able to get over/under/through the fence. I am figuring he was chasing something, maybe a cat because there is a farm house across the highway and I saw a cat on our deck the other night. He made it to the highway and was hit. We don't think he ever knew what happened to him, at least we are hoping that's the case.
We are so glad Diamond did not follow him. We are so overcome with grief and guilt. We tried so hard to take care of them and to protect them. Diamond is doing well, surprisingly. He took such good care of her. My only comfort is in knowing he's at the Rainbow Bridge with Toby, our first lab, waiting for us.
Sorry for the long message.
Jamie

So sorry for your loss. Please don't beat yourself up over it. Sometimes these things just happen despite all our efforts to keep them safe.
Take comfort in the knowledge that he probably had a far better life than the one you rescued him from.

I am sorry for your loss. Sometimes, through no fault of ours, things happen. Godspeed, Diesel.
Thank you for your kind words of advice, it does help.
Enough! Now we're going to take Diamond out for some serious play time, then watch the GB Packers!
Thanks again

p.s. How did you add your pictures? I've tried uploading and I get an error every time.
