How do I get a 2" x 2 1/2" Photo Print?
I saw these coasters on crateandbarrel.com that you put your own photos in. (http://www.crateandbarrel.com/family...c=6010&f=12620) I thought I could use some of my own photos (perhaps butterflies) and give these as gifts to people for Christmas.
First off - do you think this would be a good idea? Is it weird that I would give my own photos or neat because it would have a personal touch to it?
Second - these coasters require 2" x 2 1/2" photos. How do I get photos that small? Wallet size is 2 1/2" x 3 1/2". I don't have a printer at home that can print these this small so I have to order them online.
Also, Would photos that small lose too much detail to be any good anyway?

I think it would be a great idea but I would have the pictures printed online from places like Walmart, Costco or preferably Mpix.com instead of printing them yourself. You would have to order wallets and then cut down to size. Let me know if you need any help with resizing the pictures...

Oh cool - Mpix offers a "mini wallet" that measures 1.75x2.5 - that might just work without having to worry about trimming them! Thanks, I haven't heard of mpix before. I have to say those statuettes are pretty darn cool!

My wife has been giving those out for the last couple years now. People seem to love them, at least they have them out when we visit. She usually just finds any small pics and cuts them to fit. I think the viewing area is quite a bit smaller than the actual coaster size.
With your pics I am sure any of the recipients would be thrilled...

I love the Kodak Endura Metallic paper from Mpix especially for pictures that have a lot of contrast... Harlydog's tin man picture would look really cool on metallic paper...

Thanks Harleydog!
Jimbo- I read about the metallic paper. I'll definitely have to give that a try! Would nature shots be ok on that type paper? For instance, this butterfly would probably be one I'd use:

Kathy - Your macro/nature photos would look AWESOME on metallic paper... I would brighten and over-saturate them just a little bit to add a little punch.

I'll definately give it a try then! Thanks! :)

I've seen those before I think it's a great idea. If you know what they have a room decorated in try to find pictures to match their room some maybe.
