Does anyone have the Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM Lens? B & H has for $854. This is the lowest price I've seen it listed for. I already have this focal length with the kit lens, but feel limited using the kit lens indoors with low light. My darling husband told me to order the lens, but, I wonder if I'd be better off getting a focal length I don't have. I also have the Canon 70-200 f/2.8 IS and the 50 mm 1.8. If you have this lens, do you think it is worth the money? I've read some people have a problem with dust with this lens.

I think it is a good lens. I don't think you would be disapointed.
Here is a link to more than you care to know about others opinnions of this lens...

I do and absolutely love it!!! I paid $1100 for it back in May.
Ok, Jimbo, that's enough for me to hit the submit button!

The kit lens is 18-55
If you want a allround lens, buy the sigma 70-300![]()

I went ahead and ordered the 17-55. I want it mainly for photos in our sanctuary, which has little light. My Canon L 70-200 f/2.8 IS does great in the sanctuary, but I have to back myself into a corner! I think between these two lens I should be set for another year or two until I look for something longer than the 200 mm.

The EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 IS is a totally different lens from the 18-55 POS kit lens. I'm not sure what the hell you're talking about...Originally Posted by Felix
