Default Fancy, the Seeing Eye Breeder

Fancy was raised by my mother, brother, and me for the Seeing Eye Puppy raising program. She was so successful that they decided to put her into their breeding program. She stayed there for three years (including formal training), having a total of 3 litters. Every heat cycle they bred her, one which didn't take. In my opinion the Seeing Eye works like a (very clean) puppy mill. Fancy came home emaciated (declared by our vet), covered in scabs and sores from sleeping on concrete for years, and traumatized. Never the less, they do produce, in my opinion, some of the best dogs in the world. One of the best things is that we are able to sift through networks of people to find realtives. We have found about half of Fancy's pups, as well as a picture of her mother. Here is a link, enjoy!

Beautiful pups. It's a damned shame the way they're treated. WTH don't they care for them better?

BTW, if you want to post selected pics, copy & paste the IMG code (last link at bottom of pic).

Oh & reduce the size to 640X480 BEFORE you upload them to PB otherwise they end up huge like this. It's easier on your upload/download limit too if you're restricted by your ISP. The page also loads faster for those on dial up or slow connections.

Are you talking about The Seeing Eye in Morristown, NJ? Unless something has changed, that's not the way their dogs were kept in the past. Their dogs have always been very well cared for. It would be a shame if that's what's going on now.

I've been saying the same thing for years. They've prodiced some of the most gorgeous Goldens, Labs and GSDs that I've ever seen. Once in awhile one turns up with an issue, but over all, their dogs have wonderful temperments, too.

I always thought that the breeders were treated really well, but all of the females who come back are 10 or more pounds underweight, tattered, and slightly traumatized/starved for attention. I just wish TSE did what other organizations do: let them go to loving homes in between litters and only have pups every other cycle.
But as I said they produce the most stellar dogs. They pay no attention to breed standard, so their dogs are built and look slightly different than the general population. What they do look for is imaculate health, sound easy going temperment, dogs who can think for themselves, intellegence, gait, and size. They produce 600 pups annually and they are the most beautiful and intelligent dogs that I have ever met. Their only real genetic problem is soft tracheas, which they are trying to irradicate.
