We can wear pins, etc. No lines here at 8:30.

It's within 50 feet here. They had a big banner on the door of my polling place that said something like 'No campaign material past this point'.
A half dozen people sit with their So-And-So for School Board signs right outside the door though.
I wore an Obama pin... no problems.

Yeah, I think that's technically a violation of Wisconsin's electioneering laws but apparently they weren't looking (or didn't care).Originally Posted by Ender's Mom
I think those laws are largely outdated. I believe, at least here, they came into favor when you had union bosses and the coal company place officials at the polling places. They'd wear buttons or carry signs "informing" their workers who to vote for. Of course, they were also there to make sure they voted "correctly" with harsh penalties if they didn't. With curtains and more secrecy today, I'm not sure there's much of a fear of undue influence anymore. Then again, maybe that's because of the law.
You can't do that in Michigan either. I didn't you could anywhere.
Is this the first time you have voted in NJ, or in person instead of through the mail?Originally Posted by blacklabelias

Nope, but it is the first time I have showed up to vote with pins on.Originally Posted by Maple1
I would assume anything goes here in PA - there were signs, people handing out "sample ballots" for each party (basically lists of who to vote for is you want to vote the party line but are too dumb to read the parties listed on the voting machine), and people volunteering wearing political garb.
I had a lot of time to observe during my two hour wait :death:

Hmm. I wish I would have thought to get buttons from BOTH campaigns. (I don't have anything from either - no signs, no buttons...) On one side you'd have the first African-American president, on the other the first female VP. Historical either way. Might've been neat to have down the road.
