Gone with the Wind is being adapted as a stage musical. :

Hugh Jackman is the proposed Rhett.

The above article is wrong, however, in noting that GWTW has never been a stage musical before. Harve Presnell starred as Rhett in a musical version in the 1970s that lasted, mmmmmmmmmmmmm, maybe a week!

I wanna write the music/lyrics. CannI? CannI? CannI? CannI? CannI? PLEASE ? ? ?

<<lights dim as Scarlett is seen center stage in rags. She tries valiently to eat a rotten turnip -- her only sustinence for the past handful of days -- but ends up wretching the thing up. The spotlight tightens on her as she sings:>>

As God is my witness, I shan't be hungry again.
Nor be a foil for enemies or men
The Yankees, damn them!, have burned Tara to the ground
And here in our garden, not a morsel to be found!

A turnip! A turnip! My kingdom for a turnip!
If it were hot, I'd have a burnt-lip
    From my little turnip!

Will Carol Burnett's curtains be involved?

    Edited to add a picture:

The original musical was called Scarlett. The opening in Japan ran 4+ hours. Obviously, things were trimmed. Opened in NY in April 1974.

Here's the song list. I like mine better! ;D

    Act I

    Overture/He Loves Me
    We Belong to You
    Scarlett
    We Belong to You (Reprise)
    Two of a Kind
    Two of a Kind (Reprise)/Blissful Christmas/My Soldier/Blissful Christmas (Reprise)
    Goodbye My Honey
    Lonely Stranger
    A Time for Love
    What Is Love?
    Which Way is Home?
    Act II

    Ent'racte/Bonnie Blue Flag
    O'Hara
    The Newlyweds Song
    Strange and Wonderful
    Blueberry Eyes
    Little Wonder
    Bonnie Gone
    Finale
