Oh lah. and a big sigh
Last Monday, I picked Zoe up from day care and I bumped into one of neighbors. Hadn't seen her for at least a month, which is quite unusual, as she sometimes comes over w/her dog, or frequents the beach we go to.
Our conversation went pretty much like this:
Me: "hey, girlfriend! I see the [dog's name] was here today! Gosh, haven't seen you in what seems to be eons!"
G/F: "Hey pal! I didn't know Zoe was here today! Oh man, I miss you guys."
Me: well, you can come over any time, we live just down the road.
G/F: I left
Me: Wha? left where?
G/f: Left home. The abuse was getting worse. :'( I spent a night in the hospital this time.
Me: Oh man, I'm soooooo sorry, I had no idea this was going on. I'd like to help. What can I do? Where are you living?
G/F: I'm fine now. I'm far away in a small place, but at least I can have my dog, and I'm safe, and I'm happy. (will not tell me where she's at...perhaps fearing for her safety?)
conversation went on and on....oh lah. This couple was the "so lovey dovey, honey, sweetie, kissy kissy" couple. One never knows, huh. He seems so laid back, mellow; she is bubbling happy (kinda like Diane Keaton in "Something's Gotta (gonna?) Give". Anyhows, a perfect couple, so we thought.
I feel so sad for them. Just had to get this off my chest. It's been bothering me all week.

:'( That's terrible, but I'm glad to hear that she got out of the situation, some people can't even do that.

That is so sad.
I'm so happy to hear she was strong enough and brave enough to leave!
This is my dog. His name is Tucker. And we live in Ontario, Canada, eh!

What a blow for you to discover this! I'm so sorry, Linda. You must be at sea with the whole thing.
I hope your friend will be alright. :'(

Nance, yes, we are all totally blown away by this. It's so sad. They seemed like the perfect couple.Originally Posted by Paddysmom

She's left, but he's still here, and gosh....how does one deal w/the abuser (I don't think he knows that I know). I do see him leaving for work when I'm on my morning walk w/Zoe, and we say hi and bye..he's in the car). I did ask him about his wife, and not seeing her for quite awhile (before I knew what was going on) and he said she was travelling.

That is sad. Next time say oh yea I ran into her the other day with (insert dog name here) and leave it at that. It will let him know you know. And there is nothing more that an abuser wants to keep secret than that.

This is sad, I can understand why this would get you down. I am glad to hear that she left. I think we all have an image in our mind of what an abuser looks like but they come in all shapes and sizes.

That is really too bad Linda! I bet it was hard hearing that as a friend. It is wonderful though that she found the courage to pick up the peices and move on...too many women have a very hard time doing that.

Good for her for getting out. So true, many women never have the courage. I know or have known several in these situations, unfortunately.
I am sure she enjoyed seeing you and talking to you, and could feel your love, support and concern for her. That did her a lot of good, I have no doubt.

I did enjoy seeing her again. **sigh** I wanted to ask her over for Thanksgiving, but "their" house is situated where they have a clear view of ours. We may see her at the beach on Thursday, tho.Originally Posted by AngusFangus
She asked me to email her, but if her SU has a puter, wouldn't he be able to access her email?
