I heard today that there was problems with the machines that some were using. Dont they test that stuff out before hand. I mean come on.

They were just joking about that on CNN. They were saying that after 230 years they have the voting thing figured out, they just haven't quite figured out how to count those votes.![]()

Where did they say they were having problems? What part of the country?

Don't even get me started on this! It reminds me of a not-so-long-ago presidential election!
Apparently all over. Some areas have even already called in judges. It was just a soundbyte I heard, there wasn't a lot of information.

I thought it was either Georgia or Florida. I know that one place had to stay open for over an hour because of the glitches. I just cant believe that the machines came in first thing this morning and they havent been able to make sure they work? :Im with you Cam, after so long, someone should know what they are doing.

I would be very surprised if other countries didn't have similar problems and either they don't talk about it or they don't care. It was a nasty combination of lawyers and a close election in 2000 that really focused the attention on the margin of error. Just about anytime you count something (by hand or machine) there will be unintentional errors. I think it's a good thing we're paying more attention to it, miscounting votes is bad, but it's a fact of life I'm afraid. But once people figured they could affect outcomes in the courtroom, every piece of evidence that pointed to possible miscounting is scrutinized (it's why there are over 20,000 lawyers waiting around hired by Democrats and Republicans). Previously, the big stuff was analyzed at the agency level.
It is interesting, though, rather going electronic is really going to help or not. We may have been better off with the plain 'ole paper ballots.
So we can have the hanging chads again. I have to say that did make me laugh. But I was talking about the one area that had the electrical machines and the company they got them from had put the wrong card (or software or something) in them.

It was something about the power going out somewhere....just caught a tad of it...not really a big deal as they kept the polls open longer because of it. Of course, whoever loses will try to blame it on something............. :![]()
Why can't you guys just mark a ballot with a pencil? No machines, no complications.
