Yeah Eric and I are the same way. If I could get him covered under domestic partner... I would... but I can't so I guess it'll have to be marriage... YUCK!

Yeah we're the real freaks... we don't even WANT to get married
Out of curiosity, if you don't want the legal responsibilities that come with marriage, why do you think you should get the legal benefits?

Personally I'm for all the legal rights that gays can get because it's not their fault that they are not allowed the benefits of marriage, but if you don't want to get married then that's a choice that comes with certain liabilities as well as advantages.

By marriage I mean anything involving a church or lavishly expensive party that we cannot afford, a family gathering with tons of people I either don't know or don't care to know... etc.

I have no problems with the legal ramifications.

I was one of the 20% that voted against it here in Kentucky...and probably the only registered Republican.

To me, this is a conservative issue. I'm all for limiting the role of government, and I just don't see where the government has the responsibility of regulating marriage. That's purely within the realm of the public. I can buy into some of the restrictions (familial marriage and whatnot) since there's obviously a public health issue. Quite frankly, I don't see how anything will change by extending a legal formality to a particular group...a group that doesn't make up a huge portion of the population.

Then again, our troops are being killed thanks to gays.

(for those that don't grasp sarcasm, the last sentence was sarcasm)

Might want to be careful, talking like that will ruin your chances of ever being elected to office as a Republican these days. Limited government is a big time no-no. Your best shot will be to have a TV show where you complain about what the party has become...kinda like Joe Scarborough.
