Can someone please explain to me the draw of a low rider?*
The area of the city where I work has some of the worst roads I've ever driven on - bone crunching pot holes and mazes of asphalt construction patches.* They aren't a fun ride for someone with a stellar set of shocks nevermind someone who's 2" from the ground.
Just about every day I find myself behind some tricked out Honda with virtually no space between it and the ground and it's swerving all over the place trying to stay on level ground, or pulling over to let others go by because it can't swerve and can only avoid disaster by going 3 miles and hour.
I just don't get it.*

i thought we were getting into another jeans thread =)

SU did a lowering kit on an Acura for some kid who wanted to be cool. He came back a week later and asked to have the car raised back up cuz he was bottoming out all the time.
I think the stupid fart pipes are even worse than the low rides...but maybe that's just me...

I thought it was jeans thread as well! hehe
if you aren't racing there is no reason to be driving one of those on a regular basis...
Which brings me to...most of these drivers are young teenagers..WHERE DO THEY GET THE MONEY FOR DOING THAT TO THEIR CARS??! My parents wouldn't even let me borrow their car without handing me a contract to sign first! ahhahaha
I looked into souping up my engine...I make heck of a lot more now than I did in high school...and I opted out of it because I didn't want to dish out $7000 dollars just for parts.
I simply can't imagine a HS kid having that kind of money to throw around. I had two jobs in HS and I made just enough to go to concert and fill a tank of gas on a good day haha
Here in the Bay Area, lots of young Asian guys trick out their Hondas. I have to admit that more than once I have giggled silently (in my '91 $#!^box) when one of them has zipped down a steep hill and ripped up the front spoiler at the bottom.
I don't get the low rider/souped up lawmower engines either.* Give me an American muscle car V8 any time.
My neighbor in a new GTO raced one of those kids the other day and dusted his little behind.* Kid met up with him at the next light and said "whattya got in that thing man?"
Neighbor laughed at him...said "a V8 dude.* 5.7 liters of V8 goodness."* Best part is, no bottoming out and a nice smooth ride too....
I should add that the GTO is his girlfriend's car...she just let him drive it. Laura's cool like that. ;D
fart pipes....giggle
True on the $ to spend of cars that are going to be a piece of junk when they finish driving them anyway :
Go REAL muscle cars!!![]()
