Commercials for Mucinex and Robitussin - they use Mucus Hotel and Mucus Medicine. Wrong - it's mucous. Makes me twitch everytime I see that.

Actually, mucus is the phlegmy stuff that you hack up. Mucous is an adjective used to describe something - like a mucous membrane.
