My hair is naturally curly and light/medium blonde. I do several speaking events per year, and the company I work for pays for a stylist. I have been told for years that I can be curly or I can be blonde, but to be taken seriously I cannot be both. At first I kept my natural color and got my hair straightened, and then decided that curly was easier and went darker.
I have been very busy the last few weeks and haven't been able to make a hair appointment. When naturally blonde hair shows roots, it isn't a good look (it looks like your hair is floating above your head). Tonight I decided that I was going to fix it myself. Really? Does that seem like a good idea to anyone else? NO, no it isn't! It is a horrible idea!!!
My hair is now almost black. I sent a pic to my husband (who is at his golf league) and the person that is in normally in charge of my hair color. The responses were very different:
DH: WOW! I'll be home in a few minutes.
Colorist: WTF dumbass? Be here at 7:30am!!!
In this situation, I tend to side with the colorist.

All I can say is -- cool to have a stylist! I have thick, dry, wavy hair that is very difficult to manage. Would love someone to fix it on any kind of regular basis. And BRAVE to attempt to color you hair yourself. I would never even try! Good luck!

Well, you gave it a shot & at least it wasn't an expensive blunder - DIY hair colour is less than $15. That's awesome your colourist can see you so quickly & so early! I'm not really getting the whole blonde + curly as a double whammy, it must be really curly?? My hair can't hold a curl to save my life![]()

I bet it looks cute, Debi. I also don't get "blonde & curly." So nice your stylist will see you so quick. So where is the picture?
Come on- let us see!!![]()
I did just laugh out loud at both responses!
Picture? Yeah, no!! It is not good. I am 100% Finnish, my fair skin does not look good with dark hair. When my husband saw it he said, "Huh . . . are you going to drink my blood tonight?" Apparently I look like a vampire. I didn't understand the blonde and curly thing either, but according to our stylists . . . you can be one or the other, but to be taken seriously you can't be both. I have no idea what hair has to do with being taken seriously.
Luckily the person that cuts/colors my hair is a good friend (she is my youngest son's best friend's mom). I will go to her house tomorrow morning to have it fixed.

If I used a stylist who called me dumb ass? I'd be outta there no matter how good he/she is.

I've been coloring my hair for over 25yrs, i think there is a way to do it and have it be just fine. When my stylist moved out of State she told me what colors I needed and how to color the roots and rest of the hair. She actually wrote out the formula, my hair color and I are like a common law marriage, its been over 7yrs " its mine" lol!! I have heard that blonds can be a little trickier especially when your going darker. So glad you can get it fixed quickly Debi.
