    Default ugh. lyme disease.

soooo does anyone remember me complaining about maddox being completely infested with ticks this fall? don't worry...he's fine. but i've got lyme disease. i've been feeling "off" for months. i went to my PCP a few months ago because of it, and he ran the basic blood tests and said that i was fine, probably just stress. Fast forward to the last month, and i've been feeling increasingly yucky (headaches, dizzy, fatigue) and over the last couple of weeks i've been having sudden onset arthritic symptoms in my knees. i'm 29, i shouldn't have crippling arthritis in my knees. at first i attributed it to the 5k training, but the pain wasn't happening in a way that seemed related to running. a coworker suggested that i get tested for lyme, so i went to employee health. diagnosis is official, and i commence 30 days of doxycycline today. effing ticks!!!

Nasty stuff, I've had it twice, but caught it right off. Folks need to be able to identify the deer tick and watch any bites for the rash ring around it that starts in a week or so. I caught it at that stage and both times they didn't even bother to do the blood test, just the antibiotics since it won't always show at that stage.

The doxycycline should take care of it. I'm one of those folks that do not get the bulls-eye rash. I'm lucky that I saw something that could have been a tick and decided to go to the docs.

The doxycycline will clear it up. Hope you feel better soon.

i didn't get the rash, and don't recall a tick bite, but i brushed off a couple of deer ticks and maddox had dozens of them. i am in the market for a new doctor, because a PCP in one of the lyme hot zones during the worst tick season in years should have clued in. thanks for the well wishes!

My Dr told me the blood work don't always show it till later, that's why when I had the deer tick bites with the rash and felt like shit he gave me the medicine and didn't waste the time or money for the blood work.

my doc didn't even order the blood test, nor did he suggest lyme. he tested for thyroid and diabetes. i know that they can't be expected to pick up EVERYTHING, but i've felt neglected by his office before. either way, i'm just glad to have a diagnosis and a treatment...i was starting to think that i was just miserable and crazy

You did tell them you had been bit by a deer tick?
