    Angry SSDD..

Sorry for this same post but I am at the end of my rope!! I also will tell you this will be the LAST post I will make about this subject..I swear.

What in the world can we do to get our 17yr old to go to school??? She lied about being at school today, still not there. She and her friend both skipped and I alerted the friend's mom. I know grounding her is the answer but I am more concerned with her going to school. HOW??

She still has a job and we will be taking her to and from...she doesn't know this yet. The car will have to be earned back. Also I have talked to the principal, the counselor and emailed her teachers...a lot. She is not having any problems with anyone. Her grades suck.

I am so freaking frustrated I could explode!!

Some teens just flat out hate HS. The intelligence is there or capacity to be a good student is there, but they just don't want to go. I don't know what you can do but watch her like a hawk stripping away every little luxury until school is all she has left.

UGH!!! This doesn't have to be the last post about it, maybe we can help!

Yikes, she cutting school now, huh? Maybe you can tell her that someone you know (me) got held back a year for missing too many days and didn't get to graduate with her friends. Talk about embarrassing.

is there a version of "Find my Iphone" for kids? Give her an iPhone and track her?

As far as getting out of bed, an airhorn would work

Oh wow, how frustrating for you. Have you tried this approach yet? Silence, stay calm. Give her the concequence, pour a glass of wine for yourself, put your feet up. Say nothing, if she speaks, reply "I'm done with it, if you get yourself kicked out of school, you will have two weeks to find fulltime job" . Take a deep breath, stay calm and pour another glass.

Dumb step-daughter pulled that stuff, took an extra year to finish HS, we told her she had to finish or she would never get any help from Uu, did better the second one around although she got knocked up. She found out that not knowing crap about anything didn't work in the workplace, she went back to school and finished it with honors and just started a job in a daycare. Yes she had to start at minimum wage, but they told her if it works she can apply for one of the better jobs when one is open.

I believe in this also. She's 16? Old enough to deal with her consequences to her decisions/actions.

Or, have you looked into alternative schooling? Would she do online school? Are there charter schools that would fit her better?

I agree the school of hard knocks would be coming down on her, she gets to live with what she creates. If it were middle school I'd have a different answer but she's 16 and its time for her to learn that Mom and Dad will not provide a safety net any longer. I wouldn't even be taking her to work, she'd have to figure that one out herself, no money, no phone, no car. (((hugs))) I know this has to be hard as heck, I would of said hell but Garth says I can't

I agree with Di. And she's 17 right? I'd do nothing for her. That means no ride to work, no laundry, no cooking, no phone, no nothing. She can earn stuff back when she goes to school.

Know it will be hard to follow thru - but they're right...and no school means you gotta work and pay to live/eat here too!
