If that nasty one coming in misses us there is going to be a lot of pissed off people. Rita called me at work last night and wanted me to grab some Benadryl since we were almost out. I headed to the local owned big box store across the way from us. Holy Teats, Batman, I forgot how crazy people get when there is a bad snow storm coming. They were out or almost out of a lot of things, the usual suspects like bread, milk and eggs. I bought eggs when I grocery shopped Tuesday and have canned milk for cooking (neither of us drink it.) and my freezer has at least 20 loaves of homemade bread.
They had about half the lanes running, most night they only have 3 or 4 and don't need anymore. They had at least part of their stockers and even the store manager running a lane. Almost everyone but me had their carts full and over flowing, some couples had two carts that way. Do people really let their supplies get that low, worst case here were only looking at 2 days of being snowed in.
Me, I bought the Benadryl, some of their store made dried beef for samwhiches on that rye from yesterday, grabbed some local made cheese that was on sale. Oh and in case we get snowed in and the power goes out, I grabbed an extra 20 pounds of flour over what I had, if the power goes out and I have to warm the house some with the oven I ain't going to waste it.
BTW the only person besides me with out a full cart happened to be my co-worker in The Old West Shop and his wife, they planned on broccoli soup this weekend and came for it and a few other items, they got the last two stalks of broccoli. I'm sure anyone over hearing us talk about how there were going to be a lot of Poed folks if the storm missed us wasn't well taken. I must admit I only have about a months worth most times, he has at least 6 months worth.

So Glenn do you have a storm shelter ?

It always makes me laugh when people think they will be "trapped" in their homes by 4-5 inches of snow![]()

Why do people always buy bread, eggs, and milk? If you get snowed in, do you really want bread, eggs, and milk? I would want cookies, wine, and vodka.

Oh they were buying plenty of that along with beer.
I did make a run for needed storm supplies yesterday morning. I went and bought a three box pack of "strike anywhere" kitchen matches. if the power goes out my pilot light on the stove won't work. I haven't got my workshop set up yet, that's where I always keep some. I have some but I don't want to go out to the garage and dig through the camp box. If it gets cold Rita's butane candle lighters won't work well and I don't want to sit around with a cold lighter under my armpit warming it up to work.

I usually wait until the storm has hit and then take the SUV out. I normally have the store to myself.![]()
Apparently everyone wants French toast in a snowstorm.
I hate when a storm coincides with actually, honestly, needing milk or bread. Then you're hosed.
