How do you back up your Mac? I was going to buy an external hard drive to back up my mac and my ipad. Is that necessary or do you use something else? I need that to use Time Machine, correct?
Still trying to learn all this stuff.

What brand do you have Dani? I looked at some yesterday, but almost all of them had to be reformatted for macs. There was one that was for a mac, but I didn't recognize the brand name, so wasn't sure about it.
I use time machine and backup to an external drive. All my external drives are made by Lacie and I've had no problems with them.

I have an external hard drive as well as time machine.
Most of my external are Western Digital and I've been happy with them.
Time machine is the easiest way to back up no fuss.
I don't buy the Mac formatted since they charge more for them, I just reformat it's not that hard.
I actually use a desktop extrnal that is always plugged in. (got a good deal on it). Then I usually keep my photos and super important stuff on a portable.
If you back up the ipad to itunes it will them automatically be backed up with Time machine.
