Don't men and women put their belts on the opposite way? I was putting a belt on this morning and for some reason went the opposite side I usually do, when I mentioned that to hubby, who was watching me get dressed, he said why does it matter? I said it doesn't reallly, except that isn't it opposite for women?
Somewhere in my past I think I learned that, also true with buttons on shirts and blouses, don't they button the opposite way?
Not really important, I'm just curious.
I've never noticed how my husband puts on a belt . . . weird. It is true with buttons on shirts, they are opposite. I wonder why . . .

I read somewhere that the reason that women's clothes button opposite, was that when buttons were first being used only the wealthy had buttons on their clothes. And wealthy women had servants that assisted them in dressing. Buttons were placed opposite so they would be easier for the "dresser" to button. not sure about the truth of that, but it sounds reasonable.
Does this boat make my butt look big?
That is one theory although some think it's so the lover has an easier time.
As for the buttons I have fun with that, every once in a while I get a bunch of guys maybe HS age up in my dept. Now they are wondering around being stupid like a group of the will. One of them will pick up one of my very blousey 19th century shirt with gathering and ask me if that's a man's or a woman's shirt. I tell him it's a man's shirt, just look at the way it buttons, left to right, womens button right to left, haven't you ever noticed that before.
Them that don't know him won't like him
And them that do sometimes won't know how to take him
He ain't wrong, he's just different but his pride won't let him
Do the things that make you think he's right
