    Well, the mayor has a point. The meetings are in English. If you don't understand it, how are you supposed to represent your constituents' interests? Great that she speaks Spanish, but if she isn't fluent in English then she isn't helping her constituents. A truly bilingual person would be better.

    Ironically, they had to translate "My English is good enough" from Spanish because she wasn't comfortable enough to give an interview in English.

    The real question, as one of the people who commented on the article said, is how does somebody graduate from an American high school with such poor English skills that when they asked her where she went to high school, she had trouble answering in English.

    I think everyone should be forced to speak whatever language the lady wants. Anything else is unfair.
