Michelle Obama has risked the wrath of cash-strapped Americans by indulging in a $50,000 shopping spree at Agent Provocateur.

The First Lady is better known for shopping at more modestly priced High Street brands. But along with the the Queen of Qatar, Sheikha Mozah, she closed off part of Madison Avenue to spend time in the luxury lingerie shop

Sounds like there is more to this story. I am guessing that the Queen spent that sum (or most of it) and the First Lady was along for the ride.

A while back the President of the Dominican Republic was in one of my stores and spent 16K. I wonder if he got negative press back home.

I really didn't need to know she was buying lingerie.

Everything political aside.....it is hard for me to even grasp how much money you have if you are able to buy clothes for $50,000....I wonder If I will ever spend that much in my lifetime.

Of course some people NEED clothes for their careers, they have to look good and are in front of people all the time......I get that. But it's still hard to understand how some of the things are worth that much.

Hmmm... did a quick search on this topic and can't find a news source I consider reliable that is reporting it. Seems to have originated with British tabloids (journalistic paragons of accurate content) and has been repeated, virtually word for word, on numerous other blogs/"news-sites".
