    Default Megan update: not good

I won't get technical with this. She is in second stage renal failure. Doc is keeping her for the next 3 or 4 days to administer IV fluids. We want to check for Addison's but we can't do that until she is hydrated. Best of the worst case scenarios is that she does have Addison's and that can be treated. At this stage we don't know how responsive her system would be to treatment, but is an option. IF! If... if... if...

Her bloodwork... some things were so off the chart the machines can't read that high or low!! Example: phosphorous range is 2.9 to 8.6. Meg's reading is 28!! That's pretty much how everything read except her red and white cell counts which are fairly normal.

We are running a Lepto test just because of all my other dogs. I don't think it is likely because their environment doesn't really support the breeding of the bacteria but who knows?? Anyway, we're checking on that.

So, it doesn't really matter WHAT is causing Meg's kidney failure, they are failing and at some point I will have to make the decision to treat (if it's anything treatable) or...

Oh Nancy, I'm so sorry the news wasn't better for you. I will still be praying for Meggie to get better. I'll be thinking of you both.

So very sorry to read this... good thoughts being offered up that it is treatable and she recovers quickly.

*GULP* I'm in tears. Prayers that this is treatable and affordable. You'll know I will help with cost, if it comes down to that, as I'm sure others here will.

her red and white cell counts which are fairly normal.
    That's a positive thing.

I'm so sorry Nance! My prayers will continue for Miss Meggie. I sure hope they figure out what is causing this quickly.

I was so hoping for a simple antibiotic answer for this. Still hoping for the best once they get her rehydrated.
