Default Diet revamp #74 - Trying Vegan for a month

So...the part-time vegetarian thing is not working out. Hubby is not on board and I've been eating too many soy burgers instead of whatever he is making. And I'm sick of the "what's for dinner?" battle. And I'm not losing weight so from a diet perspective this has been a bust.

One of my best friends is vegan and she recommended I try the 30 Day Vegan Diet...as a detox. I am not giving up my brie people. It is so not happening. Plus, I'd miss sushi too much. I'm going to try to do it with as few processed foods as I can and we're going to have a cooking day next week to try out some vegan recipes.

I've only told hubby its for a week. I'll let him work out the math. I'm starting on February 1. No alcohol. No meat, fish or dairy. I've got a juicer and blender and I'm ready to go. If we have to we'll just figure out separate food for each of us, but I'm not waiting around for him on this one.

And I've tried my first yoga class.

    I'm officially turning into a crunch-berry chick.

Good luck Melissa! I too am still struggling trying to come up with a weight loss lifestyle that will work for me. I can't wait to get back to walking outside.

Good luck with this! Since Pete can't quite get into this, is he willing to learn to prepare all his own meals while you prepare yours?

I thought they stopped making crunch berry when Obama made sugary cereals illegal.

What I'm hoping will work (I'll have to see as I get into menu planning) is that a lot of my "main" courses will work for him as sides with whatever he's doing for a meat that night. So at least he won't be eating take-out.

And yes, Pete is the chef in the house, so he won't mind cooking. Its me who has to get my ass in gear in figuring my way around the kitchen if I'm going to eat how I want to.

No alcohol for a month and no brie cheese is what is going to make you lose weight. I know you like a cocktail, as do I, but those really add the calories.

Fun!! Good luck. I've been a vegetarian forever and have toyed with the vegan idea, but.... I love cheese. Way way too much to give up probably even for a day, lol!

That and I like soy, but to have soy be *that* large a part of my diet is intimidating. I would be a walking estrogen factory.

Yeah, the no alcohol thing is rough. Thus, the failure this month. But my best friends are doing a detox for the month of February...the vegan friends, so I have support.

then we'll all go crazy on the 27th for my Oscars party.
