What with the whole QB controversy and firing 95% of the staff. Here's what I don't understand...
Reading the comments that follow stories, how can someone claim to be a fan - of the Colts, of Manning, of football in general really - and keep spelling his name PAYTON?!?!
So many people. I understand if you don't pay attention to any of it, but if you claim to follow it and know what you're talking about? Then wouldn't you know how to spell Peyton Manning's name?
It's not like it's Ndamukong Suh or anything.

People around here have lots of opinions on our QB, Alec Smith. Problem is, his name is Alex, but you'd never know it from the comment sections on lots of blogs.
Peplz iz stoopid.

That may be worse. It's YOUR team. How do you not know your own quarterback? Even I know it's Alex. And to make the name more complicated? Are they getting him confused with a Baldwin?

I hear ya. That kind of stuff drives me nuts. In Cleveland over half of the people say "Homegrum". No, it's "Holmgren".
I do it a lot when I use his name, but it's because I'm a huge Saints fan. I'm used to writing Payton when talking about football because of the Saints coach.![]()
I just call him #90.
I think people just get a spelling in their head and don't think about it. My work e-mail address starts with my first name, "Debi." I can't tell you how many times someone will type my e-mail address, and then type "Debbie" in the text of the e-mail.
