Default Thoughts on dating and age?

    So.... there's this guy, lol!

I've started hanging out more with a new-ish group of friends. We have been "quadding" friends for ages, but fairly recently started hanging out in more non-dirt covered ways, lol! It's mostly guys, as not many women are quadders (that I know of, anywho). (Dutch group, I've mentioned them in another thread).

I swore that they would stay firmly in the "friends" category, partially because I don't want to disrupt the dynamic of the group and also because most are younger than me, some more so than others. And there is the religion aspect, obviously.

But with one in particular, I am struggling, despite my attempts at very firm self-talk. I am starting to like him more than I ever intended to, and he is teetering dangerously close to "crush" territory. We get along SO well, he is incredibly good-looking (that is NOT helping, lol) and funny, and sweet, and.... ah cheez whiz.

Problem? He is 22 years old. I am 27. I go back and forth between "cheese and rice he's a freakin baby!!" and "is five years really THAT big a deal..?" Ugh.

So what are your thoughts? I would say "don't be shy", but I know I don't have to worry about that with this crowd, lol. Is it that awful? And if it is, how do I put him back in the "friend" category!? Help!!

Might seem big deal now - in another 5 years it's not a biggie at all! Go for it - why deny yourself something that might be fun - might not be fun - might go some where - might not go somewhere just because it looks "off" when you look at ages?

Five years is nothing ! If it suits then go for it ! My friend and I have 14 years age difference and I sometimes think that she is older than me ! :-)

So I guess this means I'm out of the running then ?

What's funny is that if HE was 5 years older than ME I wouldn't even be thinking about the age difference. But because it's the other way around it feels... different... somehow. Maturity of men and women I guess..? Forgive the stereotype, but I sometimes think of 22 year old guys as walking hormones, ha.

But is that even a bad thing...?? Why does this have to be so confusing, lol!!

So, Kate, while 22 might be a walking hormone...that might just not be all bad!
