A White House official said:
On Thursday, the President will travel to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, where he’ll unveil a strategy that will significantly help boost tourism and travel, an important sector in the U.S. economy. The action will be taken as part of the President’s “We Can’t Wait” agenda of executive actions that will aid job growth and don’t require congressional approval.
Many in the tourism industry across the country have been pushing for easier travel visas for tourists from Brazil, China and India so that could be part of his announcement.“The White House is literally shutting down ‘Main Street USA’ -- including dozens of vibrant shops, restaurants and attractions,” Recher told HUMAN EVENTS. “[Obama’s] job-killing policies have already shut down many real Main Streets across our country, so I guess it makes sense.”

I just feel sorry for all those people who spent forever saving for their family trip to Disneyworld, only have to have it screwed with so that the president can have a cool background shot.
Getting to see the president is pretty cool, but not when you're 5.

I don't get it. The two quotes seem contradictory. Isn't it good to promote tourism for the US economy?
The article is complaining that because the Pres went to Disney World "main street" area (which there are shops and ice cream soda fountain type places), it essentially shut it down, not allowing commerce on that particular day... "hurting" main street Disney World (pretty sure the folks at Disney had to approve this and they probably were psyched to have the President there... who cares about one day losses on at a candy shop?). They are then comparing this to how Pres Obama's policies/presidency has hurt "main street" America/Americans in their opinion.

OK. Thanks for being the interpreter, sometimes it's all too complicated for me, lol.
I know someone that is there with their family today.

It is just my opinion but I just don't see how with so many people out of work, they can afford to travel anywhere.
I guess, though, people from Brazil, China & India have jobs & will be able to travel to the US.![]()
