I will be in St. Louis from April 24-29 judging the FIRST Robotics World Championships. I have never been to St. Louis before. I will have evenings free and part of my days free.
Other than the Arch, does anyone have some fun suggestions for things to do/see? I will be staying near the convention center at the Hampton Inn Gateway Arch. I will not have a car, so ideas that are easy to get to by walking or public transportation are preferred.
Thanks much!

They have a wonderful zoo there, but I don't know anything about their public transportation. I would think it would be easy to get to, it's a big attraction.
Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end. -- Unknown

Just walk downtown. Everywhere... walk, walk, walk! See the old Union Station (you'll hate the walk up the hill from the river but oh well), catch a ride with somebody and go have an authentic Italian meal on The Hill (a MUST), and then just walk all over downtown. SO much history! See the Old Cathedral (right there by you), the court house where the Dred Scot decision (civil war) was handed down... SO much to experience all within walking distance. Oh! Get over to the old Lemp Brewery! Look at all the statuary all over downtown. All those GARGOYLES on the tops of so many buildings!
And... and... and...

Thank you! I'm really looking forward to this trip. I love exploring new places. If you think of more, add them on!!!

I live in Kirkwood, a St. Louis suburb.
A lot of free things, The Zoo, Grant's Farm (Home of the Clydesdale's), Art Museum in Forest Park, also where the Zoo is located.
The Magic House in Kirkwood, St. Louis Science Center, and all that Nance posted.
