    Default Lesbians are better parents

Kids with Lesbian Parents May Do Better Than Their Peers - TIME

The authors found that children raised by lesbian mothers — whether the mother was partnered or single — scored very similarly to children raised by heterosexual parents on measures of development and social behavior. These findings were expected, the authors said; however, they were surprised to discover that children in lesbian homes scored higher than kids in straight families on some psychological measures of self-esteem and confidence, did better academically and were less likely to have behavioral problems, such as rule-breaking and aggression.
Here's my theory... there are no "accidental" children of lesbians. Each one is wanted and "planned" for.

Which means what? That the children are more likely wanted so they are more intentional with raising and educating their kids? Oh for pete's sake. Anyone is capable of helping their kid have great self esteem.

So this is never the case with heterosexual parents?

Waste of money for that study.

Also very possible that it is based on wealth and the education of the parents and there's really no distinction for lesbian couples/kids at all. They don't really state whether the study is controlled for finances or education level.

I don't find that surprising at all, it's two women raising the child after all.

What I meant is that a lesbian couple can't accidentally get pregnant (so there are no unwanted pregnancies). A hetero couple can ... and do... in great numbers (condom breaks, rhythm method doesn't work, woman doesn't take birth control, etc.).

Soooo.. in conclusion... since ALL children of lesbians (okay... 99%) are wanted, it goes without saying that they would do better on average than children of straight couples (who may or may not be wanted) would.

I'd take a set of parents that wanted me any day over a set that got pregnant with me accidentally.
