Very Cool 100 year old colour photos

These photos of Russia were taken 100 years ago with black and white film, but with red, blue and green filters. Then, they were put together later in a labratory to form the earliest colour photos.

Holy cow. They are AMAZING! The depth and clarity really brings the subjects to life. And the colors are so vivid. I think of turn-of-the-(last)-century Eastern Europe as being sparse and grim, but these pix belie that notion compelely.

Colorwise, yes. But there's incredible depth here (probably from the combination of different images into one composit) that a digital camera can't even hold a candle to!

These photos are extraordinary! The color and depth are excellent, better than many digital cameras. This is a wonderful record of people and places.
