So Princess Zoe & Labby... what are your thoughts on the division of the Big Ten teams for the 2011 season.
The teams are divided up as follows:
Penn State, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio State, Purdue and Wisconsin
Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska and Northwestern.
Each school will play the other five schools within its division and will also face three teams from the other division, including one cross-division matchup guaranteed on an annual basis. The guaranteed cross-division matchups are:
- Penn State-Nebraska,
- Illinois-Northwestern,
- Indiana-Michigan State,
- Ohio State-Michigan,
- Purdue-Iowa and
- Wisconsin-Minnesota.
Names for each Big Ten football division will be announced at a later date.

I don't hate it. There was a lot of screaming when they were considering putting the OSU game in the middle of the season instead of the final game. I was one of the screamers. It is only the biggest rivalry in college football after all. It sort of solves the problem of not playing everyone in the division. The names I saw for the 2 divisions on maizenbluenation were Bo and Woody.I like it it but of course I am from Michigan, folks from Penn State would probably like to see Lou instead. Penn State is a realitively new addition though.
Naming the divisions Bo and Wood probably wouldn't be well received by the Penn State fans or fans of any of the other Big Ten schools. I would think they'd want to stick with something geographic in nature.
Lou??? Did you mean to say Joe?
I see they've mentioned the designated "big" rivalry game for Penn State listed as Nebraska. Personally, I think Penn State - Michigan should have been designated as our "big" rivalry game. Also, I hope they take into consideration our rivalry with Michigan State for one of our 3 cross division games each year. PSU & MSU have traditionally played the last game of the season for the "Land Grant Trophy" since PSU joined the Big Ten in 1993.

LOL. My bad. I meant Joe. I can't believe he is still coaching. Is he like 100? LOL
Do you play Nebraska enough to be a big rivalry? Seems like an odd one for sure. Penn State can't play Michigan during rivarly week, we are busy with Ohio State. I have never seen Michigan play Penn State. I have sold those tickets every year. Last year I needed the money more than I needed to go to the game, we sucked ass anyway so I wasn't missing much. Nest year i am sure I will make that one.
I just like football in general. I typically watch more pro than college though. We're all IU fans from the cradle so that's whose colors we'll wear, but I'll watch anybody. Jason's also a Notre Dame fan.
Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end. -- Unknown
I think the names of the new divisions should be reflective of what they are.
One division could be called: Eventual BCS Championship Game runner up.
The other: Eventual Rose Bowl runner up.

I don't care what religion you practice, I just don't want to pay for it.
Yes he is old, but not 100 yet! LOL He's 83, will be 84 in December.
According to what I could find, as of 2007 PSU has played Nebraska just 13 times, so it strikes me as odd that Nebraska would be our "big" rivalry game. Playing Michigan would not have to be during rivalry week, but I would like to see us face Michigan at some point during the season. I am happy OSU is in our division, so we don't lose that big game.
