I was just looking at the Ipad online and the first application is :
Discover the 118 elements of the Periodic Table up close on the large iPad screen. Flick to rotate 360 degrees and inspect each one. Then read the element’s story. You’ll learn its origins, how it was discovered, and its significance in the universe. You can even see it all in 3D using 3D glasses (sold separately). The Elements features a live connection to the Wolfram | Alpha computational search engine. So you’ll have the latest data at hand.

That would be an awesome thing for a student. And I could use the knowledge for Jeopardy! I don't remember my periodic table at all.
Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end. -- Unknown
Not sure why this would have a broad appeal since only those of us in chemistry (teachers, students, researchers) would have use for it. Besides, every textbook for a chem class comes with one and there are tables hung on the wall so I am not sure why this would be included even for nerds like me..lol
