    Default Otis

I don't remember how much I've said over here about Otis. He doesn't get around well anymore. Jason carries him up the stairs to bed and then he stays on the main level of the house for the day because he can't climb stairs on his own. He's got a leaky bladder and he no longer has any idea when he's having a bowel movement. But he still has his appetitie. He still seems happy most of the time. So we're just dealing with it.

So, my mom visited this weekend and one of the first things she said was "He just looks so miserable."

Is he miserable and we're not seeing it? If he's not happy, then what's the point?

Poor Otie, it breaks my heart. They say once they no longer have control over pee and bowel movement than dignity has been lost. However! I think if he's still eating normal and he seems happy to you guys (who know him best), then it's not his time yet. Prayers for Otis....

I'm so sorry, Meliss. Does he seem miserable to you? What do you see when you look in his eyes? Only you guys, that know him so well, can tell.

I know they say that, but I don't see how it's possible.

I have recently been there. You will just know. Not sure how to tell you because everyone tried to tell me sooner than I was ready. It's different for everyone and it's your baby! =) Hang in there.

I'm so sorry. I don't have any advice, just wanted to say I'm thinking about you guys. If my Sam were like that, I don't know what I'd do. He'd put on a brave face, and that would be all I'd want to see because I love him so much. Not saying that's how it is with Otis, I was just imagining being in your shoes. Does he seem to be happy other than the bathroom issues?
