A friend's 40th birthday was this weekend and she organized a pub crawl - rented a bus to drive everyone from one bar to another. Our neighbors went. We knew them and the birthday girl/husband and no one else. Our neighbors were the same.
Everyone is too loud and squealy and annoying.
Everything is too smoky. The INSIDE of the makeup bag I carry inside of my purse smelled like smoke. They let people smoke ON the bus. It was like I'd smoked a pack myself by the time the night was over.
And I learned something... I avoid conflict at all costs. I am a shy person, I want people to like me, I never want to be the center of attention and there's always the fear of looking stupid or being wrong...
But apparently, if I really have to pee... all bets are off.

Don't get between a woman and the washroom.
I'm so happy thrilled ecstatic that Ontario has a no smoking bylaw in public buildings! So no smokey bars!
Amy and Tucker-
LOL! I went out with 2 friends Saturday night. I had to check a few times to see if we were the oldest people in the bar. LOL. I can hang with younger crowd though.
Yea, no, we don't do bars anymore either. It's safer to get glunked up at home anyway.![]()

I hhear you. we have a couple of places where we're "regulars" and have friends who frequent those pubs as well. Plus we're not the oldest. But whenever we've gone somewhere more trendy and popular I always feel a bit out of it.
Oh, and I'm so glad that Houston changed their smoking laws so it's only legal outside on the decks and patios, not in the bars/pubs any longer.
We weren't the oldest people out there, but I FELT too old. Maybe it was just the crowd on the bus.

I'm with you! Home or camp is much more fun. No driving. And you don't have to put up with the idiots. Last time we went out some young girl was beating up on her boyfriend right outside the bathroom. Went on all night, so everytime you went to pee you had to listen to her loud mouth and she was actually slapping and hitting him. I don't know why he didn't deck her. I wanted to deck her and tell her to shut the hell up. I stayed away though. I prefer home and a fire and my pups.
LOL
