    Default Rally O?

Have any Canadians put their labs into Rally Obedience? Description as follows:

"Rally Obedience goes beyond basic heeling by interspersing over forty obedience movements with the sits, turns and paces of traditional heeling. It also requires a brisk pace, positive attitude and happy demeanor. "

I have Malone tentatively signed up for Rally O for January, when he'll be 8 months old. He'll be in the Novice Group, which doesn't involve any jumping. Sounds like it's basically obedience training, which he can DEFINITELY keep improving on. ha ha!

We're in the States, but are doing AKC Rally now. It's loads of fun. And, yes- it's pretty much fine tuning obedience skills. Actually, a lot of the excercises are things I did on my own when I was training our previous Lab back in the '90s. Have fun!

I think Rally is great for starting a young dog. Miles and I did lots of rally until about a year ago.

We love all flavors of Rally, AKC, UKC, APDT. ITs great for a puppy/young dog, good start on obedience. Merlin got his RN when he was about 9 months old (on the same day as his mom did)... we love it!

I do AKC and UKC Rally with my kids and HIGHLY recommend it for folks wanting to get into any style of competition obedience. CKC is not a lot different than what the state side version requires. Whether you use Rally as a venue in and of itself, or as a progression to "traditional" obedience, it will provide you with an extraordinary experience!

    GO FOR IT!!!

    Thanks Ann!!
    Yup, it was super fun!
I was very proud of Malone and his loose-leash walking, hubby and I have been working hard at that and its paying off.
We learned about 5 different signs for Rally.

This week we have to practice:

"Sit, Down, Walk around" (must walk around dog while they 'stay')
    teach Malone to 'stand'
"Sit Down Sit" (teaching Malone to go back into a sit, after the down)
