Back to work!

I got the go ahead Friday to ease Miles back to work. We are doing some rounded jumping and flat work. We are also doing some core strengthening and balance excersizes. Obedience work is fine keeping the jumps low, starting a fist height and working up over a 4 week period. By Christmas, he should be good to go full throttle. Yippee!

Took Miles back to Open/Utility workshop last night. OMG! Was he a rockstar! He was so happy to be back at work. He was really ON! His go outs were delightful! He never missed a glove. He didn't even mess up when I was doing some go out and glove discrimination proofing. He got his directed jumps (8" woowoo) right. His healing was beautiful. Everything was perfect. The best was he was SO HAPPY! He really missed doing his job.

Now I am thinking that when we enter utility, I might consider not working him at all for a few days before the trial. Get him nice and bored so he's thrilled to work when we go in the ring. It is a nerve wracking strategy in the days leading up to the trial because you think you could be perfecting some skill.

Anyway, it was so good to have my dog back in class. Next week, we go back to agility doing baby stuff.

Ann - What great news about Miles. So happy that he's back to his old self - almost. Hard to keep the pace slow when you know he wants to work. I'll miss you at the I-X - won't be quite the same without you and Miles with us in line. B

Oh, it is killing me not to able to compete there. I will be there Thursday shopping and socializing, though! :-) Maybe I will see you there.

We went back to an advance beginners agilty class Thursday and did some easy sequences with 12" jumps. Oh was he happy! And the ankles is looking good! Next week, we go back to our regular class with low jumps.

Ann - Such great news that Miles is feeling good and wants to do agility. I'm showing Recon - or perhaps a better way to put it is that I am escorting him to the ring - on Thursday and Friday only. I signed us up for FAST, JWW & Open Std. FAST is 1st thing and JWW right after that. Those two classes should be done by about 11am Open not scheduled until 4pm approx both days and since times are usually off - could be closer to 5pm. Terry is showing Shamrock in Utility only so depending on when he's done, we might go home and then I'll come back with Recon. It would be about an hour round trip but might be better than sitting at the I-X for 5 hours. I think the problem is even though there are 4 judges, there will only be two rings. If I had an idea it would have been scheduled like this - I think I would have skipped Open Std. Hope we see each other on Thursday. B

Great news! Sounds like Miles 'benefited' from his time off, attitude-wise. He certainly has a long list of accomplishments, and now it sounds like you and he can make that alphabet soup of titles after his name even longer!!
