Default Good news and bad news....

I thought I should let you know how it went.

Miles surgery went really well. They said the tumor came out cleanly and there was no bone involvement which was a concern. He got the whole tumor out and the adjacent tissue. They sent the tumor out for histopathology and we will have the results sometime next week. However, I couldn't help but ask if the tumor looked abmornal to him. I figure he's seen enough of these, he's know. He said it did look abnormal. He wouldn't have told me that, but I asked. He said he doesn't to jump to any conclusions until the tests come back.

This came on so fast, I really was not shocked to hear that, but I hoped not to hear that. I just hope we got to it early enough. He is the picture of health otherwise, even this morning. He is young, we have the cancer rider on the VPI. We'll do whatever we need to do.

Honestly, I told Susan this, if I didn't work with that dog every day like we all do for obed and agility, I doubt I'd have noticed to soon. One thing that was really telling for me over the weekend was that he was going around jumps on his retrieves or sitting and smiling at me for a directed jump. That is very odd for him. We are so in tune with our dogs when we work them every day, we notice subtle changes that we might not otherwise.

Here's to hoping for the best!

And yet some people still firmly believe dogs should live outside...

Keeping you and Miles on my mind.

And isn't that the truth about them being so close, you notice the smallest things.

I once had a breeder tell me her dogs were healthier because they're outside...and I asked how she knew.

Oh! I'll bet they didn't like that!

Miles is feeling great. He is showing no signs of discomfort in the leg that had the surgery. Now he's BORED. I am pretty much still only letting him walk around the house and walk to the cul de sac and back to take care of business. (We live on the cul de sac). Today, I will play a few games with him inside. "Find the slipper, Find the toy". Something to use his mind to keep him a little entertained.

He is really being a good sport about the cone on his head.
