My little boston terrier loves to look up at my face during heeling but it makes her heel ahead of me and not in the right position. She is a bit of a nervous dog so I haven't been able to use a tool for direction. I try to treat when she is in the correct position but she jumps back when I bend over to treat. Can I get some ideas of how to re-adjust her heeling style?

I would teach her to look at a spot on your leg, not up at your face. You can start by actually taping something to your pant leg (or your leg), like a treat, to get her focus there. You'll basically have to retrain her to look at this spot instead of up at you. Also, if she's fearful when you bend over her to treat her (and what dog wouldn't be!) teach her to catch the treats by dropping them to her, don't bend over her.
Hope that helps.
oh, thanks!
