My obedience instructor Marcia, gave me a sample diet written up for raw feeding. Since I would prefer not to do whole bones (other than recreational) she suggested bone meal added to the diet. Where do I get food grade bone meal (as opposed to the stuff you get for the garden)?

Health food store... maybe...?
You could also use crushed egg shells. I'd just be a little concerned about the lack of fibre with either egg shells or bone meal, as bone acts as fibre in a raw diet.

Why not opt for a ground diet instead with the bone in? It is very difficult to add bone meal, there is too much guess work involved. It would be safer and easier to find a ground producet IMO![]()

Karen, I have had Caleb on raw for 5 1/2 years. Along with chicken backs, I also, as Dana suggested, use ground meat that has the bone ground up with it. I would personally be a little weary of using bone meal. Does Marcia feed raw?
