Token (who was dumped at only 6-8 weeks of age and who we have had one night) went to the river with us to watch the salmon run and... he caught one! Then proceeded to carry this salmon, who was longer than him, off away from the other dogs and he ate itwell not all of it cause we had a 1 hour car ride ahead and I didn't want to deal with puppy throw up and certianly NOT fishy puppy throw up
I have 5 ferrets who are all raw fed. I do the prey diet as well as commerical raw such as Primal and NV but I do know how to do the raw diet at home... things like at least 3 different protiens, various ages and don't forget the organ (really nasty poop if you are not used to it in the ferrets anyway) and bone.
The idea of trying to raw feed a puppy scares me though. For now he is eating TOTW.. high prarie (I think) I know on the bag it states it is a all life stage food.
I would guess if I did the raw it would be the same as for the ferrets only on a bigger scale.... but then ferrets are more like cats![]()
Raw salmon is loaded with tapeworm: it is not something I would let him do if you can prevent it.
I've raised tons of puppies on raw with no issues.

good to know. I have been feeding raw salmon to my ferrets for 9 months now about once a week and never had that problem.
I'll have refigure my ferret's raw diet.

Just freeze it for a good three weeks before feeding it and that should take care of it.
