Story of 14-year-old Michiel, son of the mayor of a German occupied town in the Netherlands at the end of WWII. Too young to be involved in the resistance, he stumbles into it as he attempts to help a British pilot hidden in the woods escape from the Germans. The excitement of his activities blinds him to the harsh realities of war which he must quickly grow up and come to terms with as his decisions begin to affect his family. Visually stunning. Quiet and powerful.
