Finished this over the weekend. It's a very quick read, but I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as many of the reviews on Amazon. I found it to be very "sweet," somewhat repetitive, simplistic and one dimensional. The one thing that really bugged me was the age progression of certain characters. It didn't make sense to me (don't want to say anything more for fear of spoiling it for others). I much preferred The Art of Racing in the Rain.
I enjoyed it, and also read it quickly. I agree, it was repetitive, and the age progression confused me too...Felt like I missed a chunk of time. Hmm

I felt just the opposite. I laughed and cried at A Dog's Purpose and didn't as much care for The Art of Racing In The Rain (very depressing).
I'm also involved in rescue; so maybe that is why A Dog's Purpose touched me the way it did. Also have had many dogs "go ahead" ....
It's being made into a movie, from what I hear.
I just started this last night.

Its on my hug wish list on Amazon. Almost done with The Art of Racing in the Rain..I really like this book
I finished it this weekend. For the record, four months is not enough time to pass between putting your own dog down and reading a book where the dog gets put down, and not just once. I was a mess.
