Default JL Book Club: September Book

Since we were evenly split on the vote for the August book...is everyone ok with "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett as the September book? (I've already started it and can't put it down)

Sure. After I finish The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls (a can't-put-down memoir!) I'll start The Help.

The Glass Castle is very good. She's written another book since then which I liked, but not as much as The Glass Castle. If you are into memoirs, consider Orange is the New Black. I just finished it--you can get the details on Amazon, but I found it to be very interesting and made me question some of my assumptions and beliefs about the prison system and how "non violent" offenders are handled.

The Help is excellent. Everyone I know that's read it (including me) loved it.

I am finishing up the Stieg Larsson trilogy (1/4 way through The Girl That Kicked The Hornet's Nest).

Have heard only good things about The Help, so looking forward to reading it this month!

Thanks for the book suggestion! I have such a list of recommended books, it's scary! Good thing I just retired and have lots of time on my hands!

I realized when I googled the author of The Glass Castle that I had already read her subsequent book. I enjoyed it but, like you, not as much as The Glass Castle.

At the library today, I picked up the Eat, Pray, Love sequel (Committed - A Skeptic Makes Peace with Marriage) so I'll squeeze that one in before The Help.

I read the Help right after Eat, Pray, Love. It is a wonderful read. Loved it! It took me about 4 days to wade through Eat, Pray, Love. I couldn't put down the Help, read it in one day.

Does this boat make my butt look big?
